TWO illegal workers have been found working at a petrol station in Westbury, just weeks after four were found at the Cinnamon Lounge in Trowbridge.
Acting on intelligence, Immigration Enforcement officers visited the Esso Garage in Warminster Road yesterday morning (Tuesday), at around 8.30am.
Immigration checks revealed that two Indian men were working illegally.
The first, 27, had entered the country illegally while the second, 41, was found to be an immigration offender, which means he has no permission to work in the UK.
Both men were arrested but later released and ordered to report to Immigration Enforcement regularly while their cases are progressed.
A Home Office spokesman said: "The business was served a notice warning that a financial penalty of up to £20,000 per illegal worker arrested could be imposed unless evidence is provided that legally required pre-employment checks were carried out, such as seeing a passport or Home Office document confirming permission to work.
"If proof is not provided, this is a potential total of up to £40,000."
The Wiltshire Times has contacted the garage but was unable to speak to a manager.
