The housing market in Trowbridge is booming, and a house recently put up for sale was sold to the first viewer within hours.

The three bedroom end of terrace house, in Speedwell Close, in the Wiltshire Drive area of the town, was sold above the asking price for £197.500 to one of the first people who came to see it.

The house, described as being 'very well presented' has a front and back garden, with a garage and parking space.

Owner Ben Lloyd, golf professional and coach at Cumberwell Golf Club in Bradford on Avon, was overwhelmed by the response he and his fiance Samantha got for their family home.

He said: "I couldn't believe how much interest there was in the house. Lots of people wanted to come and view it, and the first people to come and see put in an offer in on the same day."

Ben, Samantha and baby Lloyd are moving to a new house in the area.

The house was put up for sale by local estate agent DK Residential on the morning of January 18, 2016.

Within hours they received an offer for the full asking price for the house, which had been recently decorated.

Mr Lloyd is moving to a new house nearby with his fiance Samantha and baby son Archie.

David Heath, partner with DK Residential said:

"Trowbridge is becoming more and more popular we are experiencing a huge boom right now.

"It is very popular with families moving from London or Bath, it is much more affordable, and there has been a lot of positive development in the town, with fantastic amenities including cinema, restaurants and shops, and because of rail and other transport links to London, Bath and Bristol."

He said Ben and Samantha worked hard to make sure the house was well presented before they put it on the market, and this was an important factor.

Trowbridge has a large number of shops and other outlets in the town.

There is already an Odeon cinema complex, with popular restaurants including Nandos and Wagamama, and construction work has already started for the new Innox Riverside cinema development with more new restaurants and shops planned, including Morrisons.

Supermarket chains Asda, Sainsburys, Aldi, Tesco and Lidl are already in the town.
