MP for Bradford on Avon, Michelle Donelan, cut the ribbon to open the Hackett Place post office, which is available seven days a week and offers a full range of Post Office services, that is now integrated into the retail counter of the supermarket.
With 650 houses recently built in the area and many hundreds more promised, this post office, according to Ms Donelan, is very much needed.
“The Post Office will be a great asset to all the community in Hilperton. The fact that the branch is open seven days a week will be very convenient for local residents and businesses," she said.
"Post offices are vital for all ages and help tackle loneliness and rural isolation. It is also a key service to help with the number of houses that will be built. What the Post Office is doing is a good way to meet future needs."
Mr Richardson, said: “I am over the moon with how busy the branch has been since we opened. In the first hour alone we had 50 parcels. Customers are delighted with their new branch as it is conveniently located as it saves them time travelling into Trowbridge and finding parking. Here there is plenty of parking and customers can combine their visit to the supermarket and the Post Office at the same time.”
It will be open from 7am-10pm, Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday, offering customers 96 hours of Post Office service a week
